I've been manually adding the nofollow tag to Wikipedia links for some time. As far as comments, I always moderate all my incoming comments even though it gets a bit old deleteing nasty spam that gets posted as comments. I'm going to give this plugin a whirl and see how it works for me.

I believe some of the paid review services only require you to include a link, or even the full review for a month.

I look on every link I give as editorial and every review as cornerstone content, so it is my choice, and all links that start off being followed remain that way.

This plugin gives you a choice.

I am also of the opinion that Google should count the links in my reviews as editorial links of value, and the reviews themselves as valuable content.
Google might disagree with me, or their algorithms aren't able to judge the difference between a 50 word review and 2000+ words

a whole category if Google have their "do no evil" way for various types of compensated reviews, or you might want to be extremely evil and nofollow links after a period of time.

Hi Andy, are you referring to paid reviews? Why do you need to put in nofollow links after some time - is it becos it'll affect the blog ranking with external links going out?

Sorry about the commenting problems people have been having.

The autor of Spam Karma was notified about the problem with WP 2.2.1 a couple of weeks ago, and it is not the only plugin having problems as I noted recently with the sociable plugin.

Hopefully things will be fixed soon, but comments do get through to the backend even with the error.

First comments usually make it through the filters, but sometimes if people are using various IP masking or don't support javascript their first few comments can have a problem.

I find that people who do not have spam problems it tends to be because they have no traffic. But as soon as you start getting in to the ranks the spammers appear. Thanks for the tips.

That Wikipedia plugin cracks me up. I guess it was only a matter of time before the bloggers started to punish Wikipedia for nofollowing links to good information.

I did something similar after you mentioned about no following to bad areas of the web and needing to retroactively no follow on some guys website. (months ago).

I saw the wisdom in blocking a domain site wide and took the WP plugin code for the nofollow wikipedia and added a data base call and wrapped it in a class to make a NucleusCMS plug in that blocks as many domains with nofollow as you wish.

I think that level of control is important for many of the reasons already mentioned.
